The movie, Cats, was regarded as one of the worst movies of all time in 2019.

The main plot of the movie was that any cat who wished could attend the Jellicle Ball. At the end, a cat would be chosen to go to the Heaven Side Layer, where they will be reborn. After watching the movie, I can now say it was the worst movie I have ever seen.

The opening number, “Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats” failed to set the scene and create the plot. The singers did not annunciate properly and I needed to put on subtitles. They also failed to describe what Jellicle meant, which could have been because the average viewer would not be able to understand what they were saying.

Additionally, the animation of the movie was creepy and very distracting. Not only were the cats a disturbing cat-human hybrid, the mice had human faces as well. Every scene was a different cat’s musical number, and the lack of understanding about the Jellicle Ball made it feel like the plot was not moving forward. Only after the iconic song, “Memory,” which occurred within the last 20 minutes of the 2 hour long movie, I understood the point of the film.

Many well-known celebrities like Taylor Swift and Jason Derulo made appearances as well. As a fan of Swift, I can still say the movie wasn’t up to par.

As a viewer, if you want to watch a movie you can laugh at that is not a comedy, I recommend Cats. Otherwise, the movie is not worth anyone’s time.
