Mrs. Grady: everyone’s “mom”
Mrs. Grady is a biology teacher at Delaware Valley Regional High School, who’s been teaching for 19 years, and she loves her students.
Grady has been inspiring students at Del Val since 2000, but she has an interesting life outside of school, too. She loves her daughter and has had countless fun moments with her. At the time of the interview, Mrs. Grady and her daughter were going to Disney later that week. “We were invited to Cinderella’s table” Grady said. “[My daughter’s] mind is going to explode!”
Grady also shares her motherly skills with her students. Grady says that graduation is her favorite part of her job at Del Val. “It’s great for me to celebrate the kids’ accomplishments that day.” Mrs. Grady leads the graduates outside to the track for graduation each year. “Once I get to the bottom of the track, I just see a sea of blue” Grady says. “It’s just a very great day for everyone.”
Like all mothers, Mrs. Grady has that one thing that she hates very much. In this case, it’s the TV show, Jersey Shore. “I guess one word to describe it would be vapid. I felt my IQ drop when I watched it” Grady says. She doesn’t think the program depicts New Jersey in a proper way because “New Jersey isn’t only about the beach, it has the countryside as well.”
Mrs. Grady’s motherley qualities begin with her daughter, and carry over to her students. Whether that be her goal to help her students accomplish things and succeed, her love for her daughter, her drive to help her daughter experience amazing things, or her hate for reality television shows, Mrs. Grady is a true motherly figure for everyone.
