With Halloween just around the corner, students look for ways to enjoy the spooky season. From costumes to candy, the holiday brings many fun activities, and at Del Val, Student Council and Sport and Spirit Club are bringing a new yet challenging activity: the Halloween Hoist.

The Halloween Hoist will take place during unit lunch on Friday, Oct. 30 in the Commons. Students will compete to see who can hold a plastic pumpkin filled with candy for the longest amount of time.

The rules are simple, but the challenge require strength. Participants must hold up their pumpkins at arms’ length and try to outlast other competitors. As the competition continues, students will have to push themselves to keep going if they want a chance at winning.

The top three competitors will get to keep the candy inside their pumpkins, while the overall winner will earn the Pumpkin Crown. The winner will also receive points for their class in the Class Cup, giving students another reason to compete.

Students who are not interested in competing can still go to the Commons and cheer on their classmates.

With candy, Class Cup points and the Pumpkin Crown on the line, the Halloween Hoist will do its part to boost Del Val’s spooky spirit.
