Two successful weekends have passed, and the cast of “Big Fish” is excited to begin competition season. The high school students are not the only ones eager to perform again. Three elementary students that are a part of the cast cannot wait to reprise their roles and perform.
These students from Del Vals sending districts, Ayla Dickinson, Mason Bivona and Gwen Pitzner, auditioned and were chosen to portray the younger version of Will Bloom and Will’s son. Kids within these schools were told of this opportunity and many came out, eager to audition and get to work with the high school students. After a long process, these three talented young actors were picked among many to complete the cast of Big Fish.
“I couldn’t believe I got the role,” Dickinson said. “I was so excited to be a part of the cast with the older kids.”
Last year, during Del Val’s production of Newsies, two kids joined the cast to be a part of a show stopping production. The directors decided to keep this trend flowing into this year as kids were needed to fill two very important roles.

These two roles are vital to the plot of the show. Young Will, depicted by both Ayla Dickinson and Mason Bivona, is crucial to the storyline as he shows the initial relationship between himself and his father, Edward. Will’s son, portrayed by Gwen Pitzner, depicts the family through generations and shows how traditions are passed down.
“I want to thank the directors for giving me this opportunity,” Bivona said. “I was lucky enough to be chosen to play Young Will and I am so happy.”
