Del Val’s musical productions are never ones to miss. With the hard work put in each and every year by students and staff, they’re always an amazing experience. 2025’s musical was announced in Nov. as “Big Fish,” a production by Andrew Lippa, based on the novel by Daniel Wallace.

“Big Fish” is a thrilling story about a son’s strained relationship with his father due to his exaggerated stories about his life growing up. The lead, Edward Bloom, will be played by senior Maxim Verdicchio, returning for his third Del Val musical. Verdicchio’s most recent musical role of Albert in “Newsies” won him the award of Best Supporting Actor from Paper Mill Playhouse.

The students at Del Val have been working relentlessly to put on a phenomenal show for the public.

“People should come by to see ‘Big Fish’ if they just want to have a happy feeling and really be pumped up with a whole bunch of energy and music and love,” Verdicchio said. He also highlights the community that is created during the musical. After graduating, Verdicchio will miss most “the people” who participate in Del Val musicals.

It is going to be a roller coaster of a show, with lots of different emotions, according to freshman Sage Hason.

“A lot of people are probably going to walk out crying because our last number is really sad, but, overall, I think it fluctuates,” Hason said. “There’s happy points, there’s kind of points where you’re laughing or you’re crying, because it’s just everywhere. It’s all over the place.”

The show hits the stage for the public on March 7 at 7 p.m., March 8 at 7 p.m., March 14 at 7 p.m. and March 15 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale online for $17 or can be bought at the door. Come out to support friends and family over the next two week. Watch the dedication, effort and time put in to create an amazing experience, and a show you won’t forget.
