Del Val’s Thespian Society is hosting a Halloween “whodunnit” murder mystery night in the Commons on Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. The whodunnit it is a comedy which will focus on a wealthy oil baron and his daughter, who was murdered.
The variety of characters will be played by Del Val Thespians. The performance will mainly be improvised, and the audience will ask questions and listen to gossip from characters to try and solve the murder on their own.
This is the first time the Thespians have hosted a whodunnit since 2020. Throughout the night, a few scripted scenes and hints will be given out to help narrow down the suspect.
There will be snacks and refreshments sold by Del Val Thespians. In accordance with the Wild West theme, the Commons will be decorated by Thespian Society Secretary Claire McGovern with items from the school’s prop closet used for shows and backgrounds.
“The Thespian officers were inspired to do the whodunnit this year because we wanted to create a unique, inclusive event that allows community members to take part in the action,” Thespian Society President Isabella Diaz said.
The event is open to anyone who wants to participate, with a $5 admission fee. The Thespian society encourages students, staff and community members to stop by to watch this mystery unfold. Viewers will be transported to the Wild West for one night only in a comedic, suspenseful and immersive performance.
“We plan to get the community involved by pushing our peers and staff members to attend the event,” Diaz said. “We have been encouraging performing arts students to drop by in addition to members of the general student body.”
