Rehearsals are underway for the second year of Del Val’s Unified Theatre Cabaret. Del Val’s United and Thespian programs work together to create a show that will amaze.
Like last year, a performance will be held showcasing all of the students’ hard work and dedication towards theatre, music and dance. Join the cast as they perform on Wednesday, May 28 at 5:00 p.m. in the Del Val auditorium.
This program, started two years ago by Del Val alum Hannah Schwallie and Dakota Krouse, has expanded into something that all enjoy doing. Unified Theatre incorporates Del Val’s Buddies and performing arts programs. Students within this program are introduced to more opportunities that include the fall play, the winter musical, choir or any of the performing arts classes that the school offers.
“Unified Theatre is such a fun and welcoming space where everyone’s voice matters” co-advisor Bessy Kapetanakis said. “It’s awesome to watch them step up, help each other and light up on stage. I’m always blown away by the joy and pride they show when their hard work comes to life.”
The students and advisors have been working hard since before spring break to bring life to the stage through scenes, songs and dance numbers.
Majority of the acts within this cabaret are directed, choreographed and made by the students.
“My favorite part of working with these students is witnessing their creativity flourish when given the opportunity to lead” co-advisor Heather Flesichman said. “Seeing them support and encourage one another, especially across different levels of performance experience, is truly inspiring. The joy and pride they display during the process is as rewarding as the final performance.”
