Rehearsals for the fall play, “Clue,” are underway as of Monday, Sept. 21. The play is student-directed by juniors Elizabeth Muller and Olivia Cino. Alongside director Lisa Cartwright, Del Val teacher Bessy Kapetanakis is taking on the role of assistant director for her fifth year. Clue is a thrilling murder mystery, with humor sprinkled in.

“I am extremely excited about it.” Kapetanakis said. “I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

Both directors commented on the cast’s high level of talent this year.

“We have a lot of really good actors that are auditioning now and limited parts with this particular play.” Cartwright said. “I want to try to involve as many people as possible, but we also need a pretty good run crew ensemble. There’s a lot of tricks and set movements, and pieces that move around.”

The students involved are just as enthusiastic about Clue.

“I really do think that this is going to turn out to be an incredible production,” Lucia Devine, who will be playing Miss Scarlet, said. “The cast is incredibly talented and our student directors and directors are giving amazing tips and blocking. I am very excited to watch this come to life, and am so grateful to be playing Miss Scarlet in this production. I think it will not be one to miss and is a show that will keep the audience on their feet in the best way possible.”

The cast list was released on Sept. 18, and rehearsals started Sept. 21. Any money made from this production will go back into Del Val’s theater program. The program is looking to purchase rechargeable batteries for the microphones, better curtains to separate the backstage, walkie talkies and other helpful items.

Both directors encourage everyone to see it. Ticket sales will go live in late October to early November on the DVRHS homepage, as well as QR codes on posters that will bring the scanner to the site to purchase tickets. The performance will be on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. 

“Come see the play! It’s gonna be awesome!” Cartwright said.
