The Delaware Valley Regional High School’s Performing Arts program is growing with the announcement of the new Show Choir.
Show Choir is a musical ensemble that combines both dance and choral singing that carries an overarching theme. This year, the Show Choir will be performing a set that focuses on the idea of seeing through the lens of a high schooler. The songs will be pulled from different musicals and combined into one 10-minute number.
Show Choir is directed by Adrian Camano and assisted by senior Lily Brunell. Junior Jocelyn Denné will serve as head choreographer, senior Swara Modi will assist with choreography and senior Dakota Krouse will be the show designer.
“We have some great directors and student leaders. It’s a great team” said Camano.
The word has been spread and Show Choir seems to be a big hit throughout the student body.
“I would love it if we could get at least 20 or maybe 25 students to join,” said Camano. “Auditioning may pull the students away from joining and might add a layer of stress. Since there is no audition, the Show Choir is open for anyone and everyone to join, and I want this to be a fun experience that everyone enjoys.”
Rehearsals began after Winter Break. They are held in the choir room on Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (January-March) and 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. (March-May).
“Once we are done with musical season, there will be a couple of longer rehearsals where we can put all of the choreography and music together,” said Camano. “There is going to be a full rehearsal schedule sent out as soon as that first rehearsal hits.”
