The 2024-2025 theater season is off to a great start at Del Val.
After the previous theater season that included shows such as “The Play that Goes Wrong” and “Newsies,” this year is bound to be spectacular. On the Sept. 9, an informational meeting regarding the fall play was held during lunch. Many students from all grade levels attended the meeting to be a part of Del Val’s theater program.
This year’s fall play, “Little Women,” will be directed by Lisa Cartwright and Bessy Kapatanakis. The production will also feature two student directors, seniors Kallie Fiorito and Maxim Verdicchio.
This show revolves around four sisters, following them from childhood to adulthood, who go through love, loss and learn how to conquer hardships together.
“It’s honestly a really great coming of age story about women in the 1800’s and how they went through struggles together,” Verdicchio said. “These women are able to go through life together, paving the paths for their future.”
Fiorito seconds Verdicchio’s take on this story.
“This show is all about close knit relationships, and bonding is going to be a great thing for this cast,” Fiorito said. “Maxim and I are very excited to bring this story to life.”
The auditions will be held next week, Sept. 16-18, with callbacks to be held on the 18th as well.
As preparations are underway, everyone is getting ready to audition for this amazing show and all of the directors are excited as well.
Del Val’s production of “Little Women” will take place from Nov. 14-16. Tickets will be sold through Del Val’s website closer to the event. Reserve your tickets ahead of time, as performances sell out quickly.
“Everyone is so excited to put this show on,” Cartwright said. “I think it’s everyone’s energy that is getting me ready to direct and create an amazing performance.”
