Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November each year. This year, it falls on Nov. 28.
With Thanksgiving comes many traditions. Families will get together and reflect over a meal of turkey and mashed potatoes on all the things they are grateful for.
After the traditional meal, dessert comes. A classic dessert for Thanksgiving is pie.
Nationally, pumpkin pie is the most common. Fifty million pounds of pumpkin are consumed by citizens of the U.S. during Thanksgiving time each year.
As well as being a fan favorite, pumpkin is actually quite healthy for you. It provides protection and support for your heart.
Coming up next is pecan pie, followed by apple pie.

From Del Val students, not surprisingly, pumpkin pie received the most votes. 43.9% of voters selected pumpkin pie as their favorite, making it the top choice.
“I picked pumpkin pie because my mom makes it every Thanksgiving, and it gives me nostalgia,” sophmore Briley Myhre said.
Apple pie came in second with 36.6% of the votes.
Pecan came in third with 9.8% of the votes.
“Pecan pie is my least favorite because it is plain and needs more flavor,” freshman Madison Williams said.
