Del Val welcomes new transportation superviser
This year, Del Val welcomes Jeff Reiss as its new Transportation Supervisor.
Mr. Reiss’ job deals with the bus routes and making sure there are bus drivers to drive these routes.
“I do a lot of routing, and a lot of changes of dates during the course of the day,” said Reiss. “[I am also] checking in with my maintenance staff if there’s anything major going on.”
Reiss especially likes the challenge of the job.
“What I do like is the challenge of routing,” said Reiss. “I enjoy working with students and parents. I feel much more part of the school setting.”
The routing can be quite complex with the many bus stops. Reiss keeps a map with all of the different routes that are run, and number of busses that are needed is astonishing.
Reiss attended Highland Park High School, and he was originally a teacher before becoming Transportation Supervisor at Del Val.
Whenever your bus picks you up, thank your bus driver, and Mr. Reiss, for that bus arriving to bring you to school safe and sound.
