Terriers take on playoffs
As Del Val Football prepares to attempt a playoff run in the coming weeks, the team and community reflects on the past few games.
After a deflating 35-14 defeat to Hillside in week 7, the Terriers looked to bounce back on Senior Night against North Plainfield. Del Val beat the Canucks 48-14 to rebound after a tough loss to the Comets.
Del Val now faces off against Oakcrest in round one of the NJSIAA state playoffs. Both teams have a formidable record, with Del Val at 6-2 and Oakcrest at 6-3 in regular season play.
The Falcons are coming off a two-game losing streak, falling to both Cedar Creek and Atlantic City both in heartbreaking fashion.
Del Val captains Jack Bill and Patrick Garlinghouse are looking to continue their senior campaign well into the month of November and to make a deep playoff run. The rest of the team hopes to make that goal a reality.
“Our opponents run a little triple option, so we’ve been practicing run defense,” said junior Stoy Fohring.
It should be a battle of opposite offensive styles with Del Val’s spread passing attack facing off against Oakcrest’s run-heavy offense.
Come out to support the Del Val Terriers on Saturday when they travel to Oakcrest. The game will be played at 1824 Dr Dennis Forman Dr, Mays Landing, NJ at noon. Come out support the boys.
