Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s Grand National Tour made a stop on May 8 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Record producer Mustard opened the show and performed a variety of songs, include surprises like “FEIN” by Travis Scott and “We Are Young” by Fun.
Shortly after 8 p.m., the main act of the show started, and Lamar was raised onto the stage in a Grand National Buick GNX.
He opened the show with his song “whacced out murals,” off his most recent album, GNX.
After a few more of his songs, SZA came onstage and performed a set of her own. The concert was evenly split, where each artist had their own set of songs to perform, including collaborations between the two. Some of their most famous collaborations they performed together were “All The Stars,” “luther” and “30 for 30.”
Lamar also performed songs about his feud with Drake, such as “Like That,” “Euphoria” and “Not Like Us.”
Some of the most exciting moments in the concert came from when he performed “Not Like Us” and “Euphoria.” Occasionally, he would stop singing, and all you could hear was the crowd yelling that part of the song. The crowd did not disappoint, as the energy was high for the entire concert.

While the majority of the concert was music from his newer album, he also played hits from his previous albums. Some favorites that he played were “Count Me Out,” “m.A.A.d City,” “Bitch, Don’t Kill my Vibe” and “Swimming Pools.”
From a fans perspective, everything was amazing. There was never a dull moment. I was on my feet for most of the night. As a huge Lamar fan, I could not contain my excitement for any moment that he was on stage.
Some of the best moments came when Not Like Us, All the Stars and m.A.A.d City were played. For those moments, everyone was on their feet and singing along to the lyrics the whole time.
“All the Stars,” however, was the best: the crowd, the lighting, the singing from Lamar and SZA; it all just made it special.
The concert ended with “Luther” and “gloria:” a perfect way to end the night.
The Grand National Tour is far from over. The tour still has many stops left, and they are going international, visiting multiple countries. For the full set list visit the official tour website.
It had to be one of the best nights of my life. I’d give it 10/10 Paws. If I had the chance, I would go again.
