On June first and second the Hunterdon Art Museum will be holding their annual vintage clothing sale fundraiser “The Artist’s Closet.” The event will be held on the terrace between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this weekend.
The sale consists of vintage and designer clothing items ranging dresses, suits, shoes and jewelry for men women and children. All of the merchandise has been donated by community members and the funds made will go to supporting HAM.
Jocelyn Manship, a member of HAM, explains the origin of the fundraiser.
“In the old days, as a fundraiser we used to have a phone-a-thon, where we would call people and ask for funds, but nobody answers their phone any more,” Manship said.
This then inspired HAM to create a new way of raising funds which is how “The Artist’s Closet” was born.
Each year the sale has become more successful and may believe it has to do with the involvement it has with the locals.
”It reaches into the community, which is the point of the museum,”Manship said.
”The Artist’s Closet” is a great way to shop for vintage and designer clothes while supporting your local community.
