2024’s Homecoming is coming up quickly. The football game will kick off the homecoming weekend followed by “Neon Light: Dance all Night.”
On Oct. 4, Del Val will face off against South River, so let’s take a look back at their short but defining history.
Oct. 7 of last year, the varsity football team faced off against South River and it was clear from the start that Del Val would be the clear victor.
In the end Del Val sealed the deal with a stunning 41-0 shut out of South River.
If you are going to the game this year, the theme is Pink Out. If you need a pink shirt, Key Club will be selling them for $20 from Sept. 30 until Oct. 4 during unit lunch. All the proceeds raised from the t-shirt sales will go to breast cancer awareness.
Before the game Friday night, Oct. 4, the homecoming king and queen will be announced, which students were able to vote for online the week before the game. The nominees are
Christian Jensen, Maxim Verdicchio, William Fritsche and Benjamin Rader for king, and Abigail Godown, Abigail Bivona, Briana Kracheunas and Elana Falkenstein for queen.
On Oct. 5, Del Val will host its Homecoming Dance: “Neon Light: Dance All Night.”
Michael Fortino, one of Student Council’s advisors, is excited for this year’s theme and the students’ reaction.
“This year, we have something similar [to last year’s dance] since this is like a dance club, neon lights-themed,” Fortino said. “We’re going to stick with the musical theme.”
Marinelli’s Pizza and Italian Resaurant will be catering the dance this year.
Tickets for the homecoming dance are available here. Tickets are $15, plus a $1.79 processing fee. Tickets are not transferable. The dance will be held in the Gold Gym and food will be in the cafeteria. All sales end on Oct. 2.
“I’m excited for a fun night seeing my friends dressed up,” junior Grayson Basile said. “I hope they play some good hits by Pitbull, and I can’t wait to see the ‘Neon’ theme brought to life.”
