The long awaited, second to last re-recording of Taylor Swift’s albums has finally come. On April 1, Swift performed at a charity event to 25 of the richest men in the United States. During this performance, the highly praised singer announced her fifth “Taylor’s Version” album, “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).”
Swift released her first re-recorded album, “Fearless (Taylor’s Version), in April of 2023. Her first six albums, up until “Reputation,” were sold to Scooter Braun without her consent. This sparked Swift’s drive to reclaim these albums and devalue the original master recordings.
However, this recent announcement has sparked some controversy. In the past, the re-recordings have been announced while on tour or other sorts of public platforms. “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” was announced to a small group of rich men, which goes against many values Swift has preached.
“Taylor Swift really said ‘The Man’ should hear about Rep(TV) first,” X user @swiftyswifter_ said.
Swifties all over the world have come out to state their stance on this announcement, but many have also supported Swift’s decision to keep the announcement private.
“Reputation” was an album that came after repeated attacks on Swift, attempting to defame her, so it only makes sense that she would announce an album that has held so much controversy to a small group first.
“I love everything Taylor does, she literally made those men speechless with that announcement #power-move,” a long-time fan said.
“Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” will also include four “vault tracks:” “Lost Nights,” “Karma (OG Version),” “Snakes and Stones” and “Undercover Queen.” Vault tracks are songs that were created during the original production of the album but were never released.
Fans have flooded to the internet to share there rankings and guesses for how these songs will sound. Many fans have speculated that another album will be released at the same time called “Karma.”
While there are differing opinions on this announcement, the overall reception was positive. Many fans have shared their enthusiasm for a fan favorite album to finally be re-recorded.
