On Sept. 20, local Milford business Descendants Brewing Company will host the Hunterdon County World Fair in place of the annual Milford Alive festival. The event is similar to Milford Alive but adds a cultural flair.
Following Milford Alive’s cancellation, Descendants Brewing Company partnered with Love Blooms, an event planning business, to organize the World Fair. The fair will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 20, and will be held on Bridge Street in Milford. Admission is free.
“Our beloved annual Milford Alive was canceled this year, and we didn’t want our community to go a year without our biggest festival, so we came up with an idea that we thought was an extension of who we are here at Descendants…” Joe David, owner of Descendants Brewing Company, said.
The World Fair will celebrate a variety of cultures across the world by welcoming dancers, musicians, artisans, foods and events, like the Running of the Bulls, from individual heritages that are not often represented in Hunterdon County.
“We want to celebrate global culture in as many ways as we can,” David said.
The fair will showcase 50 countries from across the world.
“We’re going to be welcoming dancers and musicians representing countries from all over the world,” David said.
The event will feature 12 live performers and 50 unique vendors, including local artisans.
“We have some really fun activities this year,” David said. “We’re going to be doing our first ever kids Running of the Bulls, where kids are going to be running from inflatable bulls.”
Other activities include a PTO Duck Race, a scavenger hunt and the International Pet Parade, where people from the community can dress their pets in their favorite international costumes. Entries will be judged by international American Kennel judge Andrew Carter.
“…Our vision for this was for it to be a very family-friendly event with lots of things to do,” the owner of Love Blooms Jayne Yovonavich said.
