Seeing a movie before it is released is amazing in itself, but seeing “Wicked: For Good” days before its release was a whole new experience.
As I got to the theatre, I was so excited to see what would happen to Glinda and Elphaba. I jumped out of the car and saw the lights of the theatre in the dark of the night. The purple and blue reminded me that I was about to see a movie many are waiting for before they can see it.

As I walked to the concession stand, I saw the Wicked poster decorated with pink and green tissue paper and a yellow brick road with Elphaba’s hat. My sisters and I took photos next to it before buying Wicked popcorn tins that featured Elphaba, Glinda, the Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow, which made it feel like I was about to know the biggest secret of my life.
Once inside the theatre, I was surrounded by people looking as excited as me. I walked to my seats in the third row where I reclined my chair and turned on the heated seat.
Just as I got comfortable, previews began playing, but none were as interesting as Ariana Grande’s voice coming over the speakers as the movie began.
The movie started and the theatre fell silent, but as the movie played, it was filled with laughs, gasps and tears. Crying and laughing all in one moment is something not many movies can make its watchers experience, but this movie had it all.
Many scenes were amazing and the outfits really fit the context of the scenes. Many plot twists had everyone feeling a variety of emotions, but overall, they made the movie better.
As the movie came to an end and the lights came on, I stood up and felt like my life had been changed forever. I would watch it over and over again, but nothing will compare to the rush I felt watching it in that theater, knowing no one else would know how I felt until days later when “Wicked: For Good” officially releases.
