Del Val hosted a “Snowball Fight” during Unit Lunch in the Hutch gym on Dec. 16. 10 students from each grade participated in a dodgeball-pinball hybrid game.
The tournament began with a match up of seniors and sophomores. Seniors secured the win.
The subsequent match resulted in an upset where the freshman beat the juniors.
Successive matches locked the sophomores into third place and the juniors into last.
Even juniors who didn’t participate in the tournament were disappointed by their grade’s performance.

“I feel embarrassed,” junior and spectator Chelsea Coffin said. “I think they could have done better. I feel like the effort was just not there.”
All of the matchups built up to the “Super Final Round,” in which the freshmen played the seniors. They were quickly defeated.
Gym teacher and “Snowball Fight” Officiant Marty White was surprised by their rapid loss.
“[The Super Final Round was] the quickest game in Del Val history,” White said.
Despite their loss, the freshmen were proud of their performance.
“We did very good,” freshman participant Izayiah Rosario said. “Our team persevered to the end, and, even though we lost, we still got second place playing against juniors and seniors. I’m proud of our team.”
All in all, the event ended in good feelings. White congratulated the seniors, and spectators headed back to lunch.
Students are looking forward to the rest of this week’s lunchtime festivities.
