Del Val marching band is rocking the field
The Delaware Valley Golden Regiment Marching Band is rocking the field this year with their show So You Wanna Be a Rockstar?
The show is based around the story of you, an aspiring rockstar, taking a crash course in how to become a rockstar. The performance features voice audio clips of “Assistant to the Director” Benjamin McPherson. So You Wanna Be a Rockstar? features three amazing songs: “We Will Rock You” by Queen, “Hey, Jude” by The Beatles and “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by The Scorpions. All three songs feature some really talented soloists: Rebecca Sutton on the trumpet, Milo Cook on keytar, Brandon Schuetz on the snare, Simon Kinderman on the tenors, and Liam Lyons also on the tenors.
The band’s first competition was on September 14 in Old Tappan, NJ. The Marching Band also performs at all football games, home and away, barring that there isn’t a conflict between the game and a competition. If you would like to see the band perform, they have 2 local shows at Hunterdon Central Regional High School on September 21 and at Phillipsburg High School on October 12. The marching band will also be performing at Metlife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and the New York Jets, for the YAMAHA Cup on October 5.
The Golden Regiment performed in their first competition last Saturday, and it went well for a first show. Del Val was the only band competing in its size bracket and received a solid score of 62.6.
