Del Val’s Theatre season has not yet come to a close. The casts of both the fall play, “The Play That Goes Wrong” and the winter musical “Newsies” took sections of their performances right across the river to Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pa.
The students got the chance to attend two workshops of their choice and perform in front of adjudicators and fellow high school and middle school students who were also performing that day.
The workshops that were offered included modern jazz, improv, and singing in an ensemble. These three workshops were hosted by professionals who had jobs within New York City and in the Bucks County area.
After the workshops concluded, students were able to get lunch and walk around New Hope before performances started in the early afternoon.
The casts of “The Play That Goes Wrong” and “Newsies” were joined by four other performances, including “The Crucible,” “Mean Girls,” “Pippin,” and “High School Musical Jr.”
Both casts received awards after their performances that day. Best Comedic Ensemble was given to the cast of “The Play That Goes Wrong,” Best Dance Ensemble was given to the cast of “Newsies,” the Spotlight Student Directors award was given to both Kallie Fiorito and Swara Modi for their student leader positions in “The Play That Goes Wrong” and the Spotlight Student Choreographer award was given to Jocelyn Denné for her leader position in “Newsies.”
