Kyle Reers breaks cross country record
October 3, 2019
Senior Kyle Reers just broke the Del Val Boys Cross Country course record with a time of 16:36.
Reers has been in cross country since 8th grade, and he has been working incredibly hard for this moment. “Cross country provides a uniquely competitive atmosphere, where even if you don’t win, or your team doesn’t, you can still succeed. It’s also a great way to make new friends, since everyone in the cross country community shares the same goals and they are all very supportive of each other.” says Reers. He is very proud of himself for achieving this goal so early in the season.
Since this is his last year at Delaware Valley, Kyle has to think about his future plans. “I am planning on running in college, though I am unsure as to where that will be. I will likely run post-college as well, though it will probably be a hobby at that point”, says Reers.
Kyle also offered some words of wisdom for future runners. “Cross country is as fun as you make it, and the team dynamic is the best part. Our team is shrinking, so we need more runners to come out and join us. We welcome everybody, no matter how fast or slow, as long as you want to run.”
