With the NFL season coming to an end, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs faced off for the right to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
The Eagles beat the Chiefs by a score of 40 – 22, and they stopped the Chiefs’ three-peat. Even though the Chiefs scored 22 points, it was not close at all.
The Chiefs won the coin toss, and they elected to kick it off. The Eagles went down the field in preparation.
On that same drive, the Eagles attempted to go all in on the 4th down. Jalen Hurts found AJ Brown, but there was a penalty on Brown, which caused it to come back. In the end, this forced the Eagles to punt.
It did not matter; however, as the Eagles defense forced the Chiefs to punt. The Eagles got the ball back, and they ended up scoring with the controversial Tush Push.
From then on, they would not look back. By halftime, the Eagles were up 24 – 0.
The Chiefs started to score, but, by the time they did, it was too late. They scored once in the 3rd quarter and two touchdowns late in the 4th quarter.
One surprise was the Eagles’ star running back, Saquon Barkley, was held to only 57 yards on 25 carries. Barkley was thought to be the x-factor, but the Chiefs held him to almost nothing.
One of the biggest turning points of the game was when, in the second quarter, Cooper DeJean picked off Patrick Mahomes and took it back 38 yards for a touchdown. This was the rookies’s first interception, and it turned out to be the prefect birthday present.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts took home the Super Bowl MVP award.
In the end, the Eagles took home the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in franchise history. For now, they are on top, until the next season starts.
