Teams begin to walk into the Hutch gym, gearing up for a day of basketball. The teams went to the gym at 7:45 a.m., and started playing games at 8 a.m.

Mr. White, the organizer of the event, sat all the teams down and gave them a run down of the rules and reminded them what they’re playing for. Hoops for Hunger is an annual event that fundraises for Hunterdon County food pantries.

Each team played a series of rounds against the other teams. Games were six minutes with substitutions at the three minute mark.

Players made their day fun, even when they were on the sidelines. One team tried to recreate the Titanic scene, struggling to keep their teammate up. The day was filled with fun and good-doing.

Each team had their own theme. Some would wear NBA jerseys, and others would wear Hawaiian shirts. It made the event very colorful, and made it easy to tell apart teams.

Games became more competitive as they got closer and closer to the finals. Each point was a step in the right direction for the teams. The Fritsche brothers played a close game, with Willy Fritsche beating his younger brother by one point.

The semi-finals and finals took place during lunch. There were two games going on at the same time, which would determine where the teams would place. The stands were full with watching eyes, making the energy electric.

The first place team, adorned in Hawaiian gear, are celebrating their win. The team had (left to right) Michael Johnson, Jayse Altmaier, Graig Johnson, Chukwuemerie Aluka, Anthony Turkowsky, David Reynolds, Branden Sozanski, James Lechner, Carter Glacken, Zach Majewski and Kelton Ibach.

Sadie Swanson, Reporter
Sadie is a senior at Del Val, and this is her fourth year on "The Delphi." She is planning on going onto major in journalism in college. Sadie loves reading, and her favorite book is "Six of Crows." In her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends and listen to music.

Neha is a junior at Del Val and is the Video Editor for The Delphi. She is apart of the Biomedical Science Academy, Key Club and Peer Leaders. In her free time, she loves to play sports and watch TV shows.

Claire Hitchcock is a freshman at Del Val and this is her first year on "The Delphi." At Del Val, she plays on the girls soccer team. In her free time she enjoys listening to music, spending time with friends and going on family vacations to Lake George and to her family's shore house. She previously attended Kingwood Township School.
