On Feb. 27, Eric Klemmer joined the basketball 1,000 point club, making him the second 1,000 point scorer of the year, and third in the past two years.
During the game, boys basketball team dominated with a win over the Bordentown Scotties, with a final score of 74 – 37 in the NJSIAA Tournament first round Group 2 playoffs.

Klemmer scored 14 points during the game, which was the second most on the team, behind Tommy Denvir, with 24 points.
Klemmer has been playing basketball for 13 years. Throughout his time playing, Klemmer’s dad has been his motivation throughout his career and his journey to score 1,000 points.
“My dad taught me everything I know,” Klemmer said. “I’ve always looked up to him and tried to be like him.”
For many, scoring 1,000 points would be their favorite memory, but for Klemmer, it was a specific game.
“Beating Pingry, my junior year, at home [was my best memory],” Klemmer said. “The energy in the gym was something different. It felt like the whole school was there. We took the game into overtime and came up on top, and it was just special.”
Klemmer was the second 1,000 point scorer this year at Del Val. Elana Falkenstein of the girls basketball team also reached this milestone in Jan.
Del Val Boys Basketball finished the season with a 20 – 9 record. The boys lost to Wall in the NJSIAA Quarterfinal Round, Central Jersey, Group 2 playoffs. Although the season didn’t end in a championship, Klemmer had plenty to be proud of this season.
“felt thrilled to have accomplished that goal,” Klemmer said. “I’ve had that goal for three years, and I was just exited to have hit it at home with all my friends and family there cheering me on.”
