Andrew Chojnacki, the new choir teacher, will direct his first concert with the Del Val choir tonight, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.
Chojnacki joined the Del Val staff in Aug. of this year.
As a huge fan of rock music for their whole life, Chojnacki taught at The School of Rock for five-and-a-half years, and they may be involved in their summer camp program this year.
School of Rock is a franchise for children and teenagers. It’s known for youth enrichment and the awards it has received, such as Best Children and Education Franchise for 2021-2025, and grand champion in 2023. Chojnacki’s experience with music, especially working so tightly with an award-winning program, will allow for a good education to those who want to join the choir elective.
Chojnakci found their love for music at age 13 when he performed a Janis Joplin song.
“I remember when I was 13 they put me on stage to do a performance for Janis Joplin live performance of ‘Ball and Chain,'” Chojnacki said. “Being on that stage performing that song was something so profound and showed me how beautiful music is.”
Chojnacki moved to Hunterdon County in mid-August. Coming from south New Jersey, everything about Hunterdon County is new to him. However, his newness doesn’t stop him from already forming strong relationships with students.
“He’s an inspiring person with optimistic views,” Gabriel DeLeao, one of Chojnacki’s students, said.
Chojnacki encourages students interested in music to join choir. They believes that people are born with an instrument: their voice. As you grow stronger, so does your voice, and students can develop this instrument even further by joining choir.
