The Delaware Valley boys soccer team secured its first sectional championship on Nov. 14 against Middlesex with a score of 3-1. This victory marks a major achievement for the program, setting a new milestone for both the athletes and coaching staff.
The team started off strong with Jake Cooke scoring the first goal off a free kick in the first half, followed by a second goal by Michael Folmar, widening the lead.

Middlesex scored early in the second half, but Del Val responded with its third goal, another by Jake Cooke on a break away with limited time left, guaranteeing the win.
“I was very confident we were going to win even before the game,” senior Angel Marquez said. “We beat them once in the past, so we knew we were going to win.”
On the other end of the field, goalie Lucas Schulze continued his record-breaking season with five saves, allowing for an outstanding team performance overall.
This victory capped a season defined by strategic play and standout leadership from both captains and younger players. The group’s focus and determination were key factors in pushing deep into the postseason.

“Just so proud of how hard they worked to get all the way to the sectional final and bring home the victory,” superintendent Scott McKinney said.
With the sectional title, the team now advances to the Group semifinals against Haddon Township on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.
“The kids, I think they impress me every week.” Micklosey said. “We’re looking to win the whole thing.”
