As Hunterdon County starts preparing for Thanksgiving, there have been many people getting ready for the 31st Flemington Turkey Trot. This run raises funds for Center for Educational Advancement (CEA) and brings in close to 6,000 people each year. This event is a beloved community tradition.
“I enjoyed running the turkey trot and running it with my family was a good experience,” freshman Jillian MacKinnon said.
Origininating in 1993, the purpose of this turkey trot was to also have a scenic view and walk through the historic streets of Flemington, NJ. The CEA uses the Turkey Trot money to help raise funds for its employment programs for individuals with disabilities.
“I love to run, and doing it for a good cause helps motivate me to finish the race strong,” senior Melanie Tramo said.
The Turkey Trot is an enjoyable 5K run and a 2 mile walk that people of Hunterdon County love and complete easily with family and tend to come back year after year. Interested participants can register for the event here until 9:15 a.m. on Nov. 27.
“It was an easy and fun run, and I would definitely recommend doing it at least once,” freshman Amelia Schaefer said.
