Thanksgiving’s classic dishes
Which of these dishes will be on your Thanksgiving table?
Thanksgiving is one of the “big boys” of American holidays, and these dishes are sure to feature on the dinner table this year.
4: Cranberry sauce
Looking for something sweet that isn’t a dessert? Cranberry sauce is the answer. It’s sweet and can be made in different ways. Whether it’s a simple jam or a soft liquid with individual canberries inside, this dish has been a staple in America on Thanksgiving.
3: Mashed Potatoes
Potatoes are a versatile vegetable. They can be baked, fried, or in this case, mashed. Mashed potatoes are rich and creamy and can be mixed with different ingredients like bacon or cheese. Mashed potatoes are very popular at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
2: Pies
I doesn’t matter which type. Pies are very popular on Thanksgiving. Apple pie and Pecan pie tend to be a favorite in many households, but pumpkin pie takes the “slice.” 50 Million pumpkin pies are consumed each year.
1: Turkey
What else could it be? Turkey is the #1 Thanksgiving food. Americans consumes 736 million pounds of turkey on Thanksgiving alone. That is the weight of the Empire State Building. And no, turkey does not make you tired, so now you can focus all your energy on eating more turkey.
More Thanksgiving Trivia:
Americans consume, on average, 3,000 calories on Thanksgiving. The list above is only some of Thanksgiving’s great dishes. Green Bean Casserole is popular, with 40 million casseroles being consumed annually on this scrumptious day. People also like to elevate their dishes. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest pumpkin pie weighed 2,020 pounds and used 900 pounds of pumpkins.
What matters most, though, is how you spend Thanksgiving. These are top dishes, not requirements. Every family has its own traditions, and whether that’s making a 2,020 pound pumpkin pie or eating some of carb-filled dinner rolls, Thanksgiving is for the family, and how you spend the day is what makes it fun.
