The crowd cheers, music plays and the future Terriers of Del Val sit in the crowd waiting for the basketball game to begin. The teams announce their starting lineups as they run out. The Del Val Terriers are about to face off against the Voorhees Vikings in Del Val Boys’ Basketball’s annual Youth Night on Jan. 15.
The first quarter was defined by 3-point shots, which kept the score close. Del Val was down by only four points at the end of the quarter.
With about three minutes left till in the first half, the Terriers and the Vikings were exchanging 1-point leads. The Dawg Pound cheered the team on as the game intensified.
The game tied up with only 30 seconds left until the end of the first half. However, a 3-point buzzer beater from Tommy Denvir brought Del Val into the lead 30-27.
The third quarter opened the same way that the second quarter ended: with a 3-point shot from Denvir.
Del Val retained control of the game throughout the third and fourth quarters, and after a well fought game, Del Val defeated Voorhees 63-50.
