Keep an eye out for posters on the upcoming blood drive.

Del Val will be hosting its annual Spring Blood Drive on March 19, 2024.

Del Val’s National Honor Society hosts two blood drives each year, one during the fall and the other in the spring.

Typically, Del Val’s Fall Blood Drive is more successful, but NHS members are hoping to increase the numbers for this spring’s drive.

“Spring is usually not as well attended as fall, at least as in terms of community members, so we definitely want to get the word out more, make sure they’re aware,” NHS advisor Tracy Miceli said.

This spring, Del Val wants to focus on its community members being aware of the event and getting them involved by donating to a good cause.

“You may not know who you are impacting, but you are making an impact,” Miceli said. “We’re doing something selfless for someone else that we will probably never meet, but just knowing that you’re helping someone is beneficial.”

An incentive for many to donate in the fall was the “ELF” socks being handed out to those who donated. For this spring, there will be a $10 e-gift card to a pet supply merchant. The theme for this blood drive is passing kindness forward to a pet.

If you wish to become a donor for the American Red Cross, scan the QR codes on the flyers around the school or on the school’s website, or go to the American Red Cross website.

In order to donate blood, you must be at least 16 years old with a guardian signature; students 17 and older do not need a signature.
