Get your dancing shoes out and your party dress on! Delaware Valley’s Thespians are hosting a Senior Sock Hop for senior citizens in Hunterdon County on Friday May 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the “Olde” Gym.

This event was created by Thespians president,Dakota Krouse, vice president Jessica McGlothlin, historian Swara Modi, and members Jocelyn Denné, Bella Diaz, Josie Pitzner, Owen LaRue, Audrey LaRue, Gwen Taffera, Lily Brunell and Briana Kraucheunas.

“The Thespians decided to run this event because they wanted to do something to give back to a community that supports them ceaselessly,” Jess McGlothlin said. “The senior citizens of this community are always huge fans of the work and art that Del Val’s thespians create. They show up to every preview or matinee without fail and we wanted to show them our appreciation. So, we created an event that takes them back to an incredibly exciting and nostalgic time and enables them to have a fun night out, laughing and dancing with their friends.”

The Thespian Troupe is ecstatic to see the senior citizens having a good time and talking about this event weeks afterward.

“Hopefully we just see some smiling faces from the seniors,” advisor Clinton Ambs said. “I sincerely want our students to have a blast at this event and make a few friends in the senior community along the way. So many of them come out to see our shows each year and show their unfaltering support for our students. I believe this is an incredible way to give back and build stronger connections between them and our students.”

Memories will surely be made at the Sock Hop. The troupe has been posting announcements all over social media and putting up posters.

“We contacted some senior communities and senior centers that our choir members had previously visited for Christmas caroling to get them involved, and we also utilized groups like Ladies of Hunterdon County to spread the word about our event,” McGlothlin said. “And, of course, everyone told Grandma, Grandpa and all their friends.”
