Delaware Valley Regional High School’s After Graduation Committee is hosting a clothing drive to help fund this year’s Project Graduation celebration for seniors.
The committee, made up of parent volunteers, organizes the annual event, which begins at the high school with games, music and refreshments before students travel to New York Harbor for a late-night boat cruise.
“This is supporting a night for seniors to celebrate together,” committee member Dana Stem said.
The clothing drive is one of several fundraisers that help cover the cost of transportation, entertainment and prizes.
“We are a new board… just following suit,” Stem said. “It’s been a great fundraiser in the past.”
The drive will accept a variety of items, including clothing, shoes, toys, stuffed animals and household goods. All donations must be bagged or boxed, and shoes must be packed separately.
Donations will be collected outside the school near the wrestling room, with signs directing community members from the student parking lot or sports entrance.
“Right outside the wrestling room… just follow the signs,” Stem said.
Items collected through the drive will be distributed to local shelters, and the fundraiser generates money based on the total weight of donations.
Organizers encourage volunteers to help during drop-off times and increase community involvement.
“The more they donate, we get paid per pound, and that goes toward Project Graduation,” Stem said.
