“Wonka’s The Golden Ticket” is premiering Sept. 23 on Netflix, where contestants will go through parts of the famous chocolate factory from Roald Dahl’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Former Del Val student Garrison Wilson and his mother will be participating in this social experiment.
The factory houses a chocolate river, lickable wallpaper, and light up elevators where contestants will be competing for a lifetime supply of money. Wilson went to Del Val from his freshman year through his junior year in 2013. While at Del Val, Wilson was a part of the basketball and football team.
The Commons Student Advisory group and The Delphi are hosting a watch party of the first episode on Sept. 23 starting at 10:30. Students will pick up their golden ticket in the Commons that morning and show the hall monitor the ticket as a pass to the unit lunch event. Attendees will get their ticket signed by a teacher in the Commons should the show run over the end of lunch. Any one who does not RSVP to the Google form sent out in an email will not be able to attend or pick up a ticket that morning.
“Students who sign up to attend via the RSVP form will also receive a Hershey’s chocolate bar upon entrance to the Commons,” Tracy Miceli, librarian and advisor of the Commons Student Advisory group, said.
Students and staff members are welcome to join Miceli on Sept. 23 to support Wilson and his mother and to watch Rolad Dahl’s classic novel come to life in many ways.
