“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” was released to theaters on July 31, and became an instant hit globally. Fans have eagerly waited for this new adaptation since the trailer dropped on March 18, 2026. It made $360 million in its opening weekend, and has now overtaken “The Force Awakens” as the highest grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office with $944 million.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” picks up after the events of the previous film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which ended tragically with Doctor Strange casting a spell to make the whole universe forget Peter Parker’s identity, including those closest to him.
We also saw Parker lose one of the people closest to him: his aunt, May Parker. In this new adventure, Peter Parker learns how to navigate himself after his life has been flipped upside down and turned inside out, now being more focused on being Spider-Man than Peter Parker.

Similar to “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” this new movie deals with heavy emotions such as grief and guilt. Actor Tom Holland, who has been growing and playing the role of Peter Parker in the MCU for 11 years now, is able to convey his emotions through the screen to the audience quite clearly and powerfully. Many audience members were left in tears throughout the movie.
Alongside Holland, returning actors to the Spider-Man movies are Zendaya, who is returning as MJ, and Jacob Batalon, who is returning as Ned Leeds.
There are new faces to this series, including Jon Bernthal playing the role of Frank Castle, Mark Ruffalo returning as Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk, and Sadie Sink debuting as Jean Grey. The group worked very well together, even though not all of them have previously worked on a project together.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who also directed “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” This is Cretton’s first Spider-Man movie, as the other three in the series were directed by Jon Watts.
The movie featured captivating views of Spider-Man as he swung through the city of New York, such as the close up shots of Parker’s face in the mask and the comic cover style reaction shots, which was a highlight for many fans in the audience.
Along with the new unique shots came incredible audios and sounds from the entire sound department and Michael Giacchino, the movie’s composter. The movie also had great needle drops that fans loved, including “Loser” by Tame Impala and “EoO” by Bad Bunny.
For those who love Spider-Man, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is a perfect movie to see. Overall, its emotional impact, unique camera angles, and amazing sound effects made the movie an incredible addition to the Spider-Man series.
