Puffs, Del Val’s fall play, is a parody of the ‘Harry Potter’ series.

As the first showing of Del Val’s production of ‘Puffs‘ is only a month away, director Lisa Cartwright shared details with the public.

“Puffs” is a parody based on J.K. Rowling’s book series, ‘Harry Potter.’ Written in New York by playwright Matt Cox, ‘Puffs’ was first performed in 2015.

First year director, Lisa Cartwright, is very hopeful for this show. With an amazing cast and crew by her side, as well as two student directors, Cartwright is surrounded by talent. Her favorite part of this directing experience is watching the cast rehearse and turn the play into their own.

As soon as Cartwright found out ‘Puffs’ was available for high schoolers, she immediately knew it was the perfect fall play for Del Val.

“When Del Val announced this play, I was so excited.  I love Harry Potter and I love to laugh,” said freshman Melanie Tramo.

“I knew then if I was going to direct a show, it would be that one,” said Cartwright.

Cartwright calls for the community to come and watch ‘Puffs,’ as it will be relatable, heart-warming, and most importantly, funny.

“I’m sure everyone at some point has felt like a secondary character in someone else’s grand story. The Puffs, the true underdog, finally get to tell their side of the story,” said Cartwright.

Cartwright also reveals that the community should come and see this play because there will be chances to win prizes. If the audience is able to identify modern day references in the first act, they will win prizes. These winners will be announced after each performance’s curtain call.

According to Cartwright, the most important part of this production is the joy students have gained from it.

Showtimes will be Nov. 18 at 7:00 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 2:00 and 7:00 pm.

“Every person involved has done an amazing job and I hope the audience laughs as much as we did when putting it together.” Cartwright said.
