Del Val cheers at finals in Florida

Delaware Valley Regional High School cheerleaders were prepared to take on high school cheerleading nationals, in Orlando, Florida. The team left New Jersey on Feb. 8, and with a recent win at Roxbury on its mind, the team was ready for any chance to win again and come back with a national title for the first time since 2013.

After settling in for a few hours, Del Val took on Disney Springs. The team wanted to have a special dinner planned, so reservations at T-Rex restaurant were made weeks in advanced to have a solid meal before a big weekend. This was a great bonding opportunity for the team before heading into prelims.  (Sara Matthews)
The team woke up excited with the nice temperatures, and heads held high walking into the ESPN center. Del Val put out a great day one performance with zero deductions. Day one was prelims, where Del Val’s main goal was to move on to semi-finals. (Sara Matthews )
The announcement to find out if a team advanced always takes place at the stadium baseball field. Del Val sat together waiting to hear their name called. After hearing Del Val from the announcer, the cheerleaders were able to calm down and get a good rest before semis. (Sara Matthews)
Before semi-finals on Saturday, Feb. 11, the team wanted to make sure they were fully prepared. They practiced twice at the resort before hand, and still had time to relax at the hotel, before getting ready for semis. (Sara Matthews)
Del Val headed to the arena ready to put their all out there in order to make it to finals. After they performed another fantastic routine in semis, the team went straight to work, after later finding out they moved on, for finals the next day.  (Sara Matthews )

Del Val cheer had an amazing Florida trip but couldn’t wait to come back to New Jersey. Heading home was difficult to leave the warm weather behind. The cheerleading team is back and ready to compete in New Jersey States, hoping for yet another win. They have won States for the past three years, so four must be a lucky number. (Sara Matthews)
