The stadium shook with screaming and cheering. Bright, colorful lights flashed across the stage while huge bursts of fire rose into the air, where the heat from the stage flames was felt across my face. The lights and fire made the performance feel even more breathtaking. Bruno Mars’ concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey was truly an experience that was unforgettable. Before Mars came on, DJ Pee Wee and RAYE opened the night strongly and got the crowd ready for the show.
DJ Pee Wee started the night with a fun and upbeat set. Pee Wee mixed songs from different eras, including “My Girl” by The Temptations, “Promiscuous” by Nelly Furtado, and “Unwritten.” When Natasha Bedingfield came on stage to perform “Unwritten,” the crowd became even louder. Everyone was singing, dancing, and enjoying the music, making the stadium feel like one giant party.
RAYE followed the night with a strong performance that displayed her powerful voice and the true emotion in her songs. RAYE showed a lot of personality onstage, interacting with the audience and continuing to build the excitement for Mars.
When Bruno Mars came on, you could feel and hear the excitement of the nearly 83,000 people in the audience who were clapping and singing along. Mars performed his newer songs like “Risk it all” while also preforming his classic favorites like “Just the Way You Are” and “Marry you,” which had the whole crowd singing along. Mars also performed “Leave the Door Open,” from Silk Sonic, his group with Anderson Paak which really brought out nostalgia from the crowd.
Another highlight was hearing Mar’s voice live. Mars sounded strong and clear, especially during his slower songs and a stadium that was open. Along with his singing, his dancing, stage production and especially Mars’s band made the performance entertaining from beginning to end.
Overall, the concert was a great experience. DJ Pee Wee and RAYE brought their own impressive performances while Mars brought the performance everyone anticipated.
“No matter what heartbreak or stress you walked into MetLife Stadium with, Bruno is going to make sure everyone leaves that stadium absolutely happy, smiling, and full of joy” RAYE said during her performance which perfectly encapsulated what I felt when I walked out of that stadium.
