Students will have the chance to test their strength and throwing skills at Student Council’s upcoming “Pumpkin Chuckin’” event, where participants will compete to see who can launch a pumpkin the farthest.
The event is designed to bring students together for a fun fall activity while encouraging school spirit and competition for class cup points.
The event will take place on Oct. 15 in the field outside the Commons.
Participants will each have the opportunity to throw a pumpkin from a specific point with the goal of achieving the greatest distance and accuracy.
Pumpkins have been donated by a local farm and will be provided.
Teams are organized be grade level, two students per team, and the overall competition will be open to four teams per grade. The pairs of teams will each throw pumpkins separately, and each of their combined distances will be the score for their grade. Michael Fortino, a Del Val Student Council advisor, will measure the distance of the pumpkins via tape measurements and flags.
The top three overall teams with the best total distance wins gift card prizes and points toward their grade level class cup standings.
The teams who dress up or have the best costumes, as judged by Student Council, will get to pick their pumpkins first, so come in your best Halloween attire.
This event is available for participation for students who pre-register between Oct. 5 and Oct. 14. There will be no sign ups on Oct. 15.
With pumpkins flying, “Pumpkin Chuckin’” will add some excitement to the school’s fall activities. Be sure to sign up and be part of a new exciting event at Del Val.
