Del Val’s volleyball team hosted their annual senior night where four different girls were recognized for their commitment to the team: Ellie Fisher, Julia Hirsch, captain Abbie Simpson and statistician Isabel Ghizzone. The team won the game and Simpson achieved two career milestones: 100 kills and 300 assists.
On Oct. 6, prior to the game, the players of the Del Val team lined up in preparation to honor their seniors. One by one, the seniors walked down the lines of their teammates with their parents, while the announcer spoke to how the seniors have dedicated their high school years to the team.
The game was a great way to celebrate the Del Val seniors. The girls won their first set 25-11 and the second set 25-12, achieving the match victory.
During the game, Simpson reached two major milestones. She accomplished 300 assists, which is a set that results in a teammate getting a kill. Simpson also achieved 100 kills, which is an attack that leads to scoring a point.
“This really is a reflection of my hard work and my team’s hard work, because assists don’t come unless there’s a kill attached to it,” Simpson said. “It’s for me, but it’s also for my team.”
