Creed II delivers a knockout punch

The movie, Creed ll, is the sequel to the original Creed made in 2015. This action movie is revamping the Rocky movies made in the 1990’s. Because the Rocky movies were made during a different and less developed time in our motion pictures industry, Creed has the advantage of clearer images and more advanced special effects. This allows the viewers to feel like they are a part of the fight and can feel each emotion depicted by the actors. Having recently watched the movie, I can vividly remember how powerful this film was. During each fight, the stress each character was felt by the entire audience.

The movie sets place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Adonis Creed opens the scene successfully winning the fight to become the Heavyweight Champion of the World. While eating dinner with his fiancé, Bianca, over the television, they see Viktor Drago challenging Creed to a fight. This is such a personal decision on whether or not Creed will accept Drago’s offer because three decades before, Viktor’s father, Ivan Drago, had killed his father, Apollo Creed. As he takes up the fight, he is defeated physically in the first few rounds. Although Creed definitely was more physically defeated, the match came to a tie because of Drago’s violations. Creed then is forced into an extreme recovery, and is forced to make one of the hardest decisions. Let the man whose father killed his win, or rematch Viktor and risk his life.

This movie depicts extreme emotions and a message of hard work. Although I tend to dislike sequels because of the directors usually change the original message of the first film, Creed ll carries on Creed perfectly. This movie is a great family film that I would recommend to anyone, both to those who have seen Rocky and those who have not. This movie will leave you at the edge of your seat rooting for an ending no one could ever imagine.
