Freddie Freeman and the underdog Atlanta Braves won the 2021 World Series.

I didn’t think the Braves would be the team that won the final game of the season, but they are.

In 6 games, the Braves defeated the Astros. This isn’t just a win for the Braves, but a win for baseball fans everywhere, except Houston.

When the World Series started, baseball fans backed the Braves over the cheating Astros. Or should I say Asterisks.

The Braves were an unconventional World Series team all year long. They were a .500 team for half the season, made a lot of moves at the trade deadline just to keep up and then in shocking fashion, their in-season acquisitions carried them to a World Series win.

Eddie Rosario (NLCS MVP), Joc Pederson, Jorge Soler and Adam Duvall were key players for the Braves. Rosario ensured the Braves wouldn’t repeat history and put the team on his back in Game 6. Pederson carried the offense in the NLDS.

Soler hit a lead-off home run in Game 1 of the World Series, then hit the game winning home run in Game 4, and then hit a huge three-run home run in Game 6. And throughout the playoffs, Duvall has been a solid option off the bench.

I also have to give credit to the Braves’ bullpen, which can breathe a sigh of relief now that the season is over. Tyler Matzek, Will Smith, Luke Jackson and Chris Martin deserved co-MVP awards not just for the World Series, but also for their work in the playoffs.

The Braves have fought adversity all season long. They lost star pitcher Mike Soroka to injury, then Marcell Ozuna got suspended for domestic violence, and to put a cherry on top, their star player, Ronald Acuña Jr., tore his ACL. But the Braves didn’t quit. They acquired the players I mentioned above and scrapped in the playoffs to win the World Series.

The Asterisks lost in the World Series for the second time in the last 3 seasons: pathetic.

Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel and Carlos Correa should all be suspended, and jailed, for their participation in the 2017-2019 cheating scandal. I’m not the only one who is glad. Everyone who is not an Astros fan is happy. Dusty Baker might get some sympathy from long time fans, but he’s the equivalent to a scab.

I never thought I would type this, but the Atlanta Braves are the champions of baseball.

Baseball is really something, huh? I even created a quote I was so inspired by the Braves winning: “Baseball is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.” I’m truly a prolific person.
