Delaware Valley Regional High School is set to host its fifth annual job fair this Thursday evening April 16. The event will take place in the cafeteria from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to all students and community members in need of a job.
The job fair has been growing steadily for the past four years, with more businesses and attendees participating. Junior Mckenzie Petsch understands the value that this event can have for those looking for a job.
“You can get interviewed or set up an appointment to get interviewed which gives you a better chance to get the job,” junior Mckenzie Petsch said.
The job fair is not only an opportunity for students and community members to apply for a job, but it is also an event to help attendees get the job that fits them. In this rural community, there are many help wanted signs along the roads. At the job fair, guests can have conversations with employers to find jobs that fit their schedules and that they feel comfortable with.
Employers are often looking for students to hire around this time of year. As summer approaches, they are looking for students with flexible schedules and who are willing to work hard. The job fair also gives non college-bound students career opportunities by helping them to connect with interested businesses and employers.

“Around this time, employers are calling me who are looking for students, looking for seniors who are not going off to college who have a career track opportunity,” says job fair organizer and Del Val supervisor Kristina Sterbenc.
Attending this job fair does not just give attendees the chance to get a job, but it gives them the experience of talking to employers and seeking out career opportunities.
