Del Val hosts math league contest after a five-year hiatus.
The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026 in classroom C114, starting at 10:50 a.m. The competition is being run by math teacher, Andrew Kapetanakis.
The competition will consist of six math problems that are to be solved in thirty minutes. Participants will not be allowed a calculator. To enter the tournament, participants can visit any Del Val math teacher, or sign up through a link provided via email. The contest requires no financial fee, though a maximum of thirty students will be allowed to participate.
Kapetanakis is excited to reintroduce the long-awaited tournament.
“It’s something that I did in high school and wanted to bring back,” Kapetanakis said. “I think it’s a good experience for the students to be able to see those types of challenging problems, and see what math really could be.”
In addition to expanding their mathematic knowledge, the contest is a possibility for students partaking in the math league to advance to further competitions and win scholarships.
