This Friday, Sept. 29, the Delaware Valley football team takes on the Bound Brook Crusaders at Del Val’s annual Homecoming game.
Claim a spot in the stands by 6:30 p.m. as the Homecoming court, a historic tradition for the Terriers, will be announced at 6:40 p.m., shortly before the game begins.
Kickoff will start the game at 7:00 p.m. on the Tap Webb Memorial Field. To represent one of Del Val’s colors, the theme will be white out.
The Dawg Pound will meet at 6:15 p.m. in the student parking lot for paint up.
Tickets will be $3 for students with proof of their student IDs and for elderly guests. Adults will be charged $4 per ticket. Be sure to bring additional cash to buy food and drinks at the concession stand. As in prior years, it is expected that the Sport and Spirit club will be selling lemonade as you walk in.
In addition to the Sport and Spirit Club, the All Sports Booster Club is likely to be selling Del Val apparel which includes sweatshirts, sweatpants, t-shirts and more.
On Friday, Sept. 8, Del Val staff and students cheered loudly for the 2023 pep rally in preparation for Homecoming weekend. Each year, Del Val has a pep rally to kick off the start of the fall athletic season. The pep rally leads into the football game that follows that night.
Principal Mr. Kays opened the event by rallying the pep rally crowd to support their teams before the relay races began.
The Golden Regiment Marching Band was the first group to perform. This was an important warm-up, as the band had a long night ahead of it, playing throughout the whole game. The band even played the touchdown dance for the cheerleaders to perform to later in the pep rally.
Each teams’ coaches introduced their teams to the audience and discussed their expectations for the season. Mr. Brokaw and the football team have high expectations for this season.
The cheerleaders showed off their touchdown dance, performing to the band! They look forward to performing each year, to get spirits raised for the game at night.
Next, the staff and student dance off began. Each team was able to nominate a teammate to select a staff member to dance with. Each student and staff member choreographed a few moves and performed the routines for the school.
To end off the fun activities, each grade had three representatives to participate in a relay.
The Pep Rally ended with Dr. Gilbert, along with the cheerleaders, throwing out spirt wear to the crowd so students can better represent our teams in the Dawg Pound this season.
As Bound Brook struggled through last season with a record of zero wins and nine losses, the Delaware Valley football team has high hopes for an impressive outcome for tonight’s football game.
Del Val’s football record for this season is 2-2, which means a win over the Crusaders could really pave the way to ending the season with an outstanding record.

Spirits are as high as they possibly can be as this game happens once every year. Del Val is expecting lots of alumni to head back to their roots and watch the team play their hearts out tonight.
