Junior Kairi Lambert has published two books within the last few years: “You Glow Girl” and “Kairi’s Cookbook.” Lambert published her first book, “You Glow Girl”, in her freshman year, and her second book, “Kairi’s Cookbook”, in April.

Lambert’s first book, “You Glow Girl”, is a self-care guide, including advice, recipes, skincare information, and more.
“Kairi’s Cookbook”, her second book, includes a variety of different recipes, featuring breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, snacks and desserts. Although the recipes are split between categories, Lambert’s love for baking shines through.
Since the publication of her first book almost two years ago, Lambert believes that she has grown as both a writer and a baker.
“I think I’ve grown a lot since the first time,” Lambert said. “I’ve got better with editing and working more efficiently, not by any specific reason, just with practice.”

Lambert began baking at an early age, inspired by her mother who was developing a career in baking at the time. Locals now know her mother, Kristen Lambert, from her successful baking business: Kristen’s Kitchen. While fine-tuning recipes, she often turns to her mother’s baking expertise for assistance.
“If I’m tweaking recipes or what to do she is a really big help,” Lambert said. “She knows how to fix those things [mistakes], go around them, and make it work out.”
Lambert was inspired to create “Kairi’s Cookbook” as a collection of her favorite recipes, and is excited to share her recipes with others. She has seven cookbooks full of her favorites, as well as recipes she has created herself.
“I just wanted to create one place where I can find it all,” Lambert said.

The creative process for writing “Kairi’s Cookbook” included a variety of different aspects. Over the course of a few months, Lambert created an outline of the book, tried different recipes and edited the layout.
“My favorite part was probably seeing the end result,” Lambert said. “It was fun seeing the cover and going through the whole process.”
However, creating the book still had difficult aspects, such as converting measurements. Lambert had to make sure each recipe used the same measurement system in order to keep the book consistent.
Throughout the preparation, Lambert was met with support and encouragement from both family and friends.
“They just kept encouraging me,” Lambert said. “If it was too much, because it felt like a lot to write my own book, they helped me push through.”
Lambert also curates both her own website and youtube channel featuring her baking journey.
In the future, Lambert is planning on publishing more books, specifically one featuring recipes from across the globe.
“It’s called ‘Taste the World’,” Lambert said. “Each chapter is [about] a different country.”
Writing her books also taught Lambert valuable lessons and skills.
“Good things take time,” Lambert said. “It’s going to take time, and time is what perfects it.”
Both of Lambert’s publications, “Kairi’s Cookbook” and “You Glow Girl” can be purchased on Lambert’s website.
