Sara is a senior at Del Val who is involved in the National Honor Society, Key Club and Del Val cheerleading. Sara hopes to continue winning contests and awards with “The Delphi” as this is her final year with the school paper. This is her third year writing for “The Delphi,” where she hopes to better the paper as best she can before her high school career is over.

Del Val’s class of 2024 held the first senior sunrise/breakfast! Students had activities planned to benefit them in their future plan options.

Student council was up bright and early to set up the breakfast and side activities.

If students did not want to sit, activities such as corn hole were provided. This allowed for a competitive competition between seniors.

The seniors immediately headed towards the table filled with food. Student council provided bagels, donuts, and coffee!

After students got their food, they brought chairs and blankets to sit with their piers.

After all the fun on the football field, seniors had a meeting in the auditorium. Students had surveys to fill out, and further talked about graduation.

To conclude this fun senior day, each year, seniors take a yearbook photo in the shape of their graduating year. Surprisingly, this went quicker than expected! Seniors then got to leave school one step closer to their future!

Since college application deadlines are right around the corner, Del Val’s english teachers set up a table. Students had the opportunity to sit one on one with these teacher, to improve their essays/applications.

After an insightful meeting, seniors had their own career fair. Thinks allowed students to go table to table, and discuss future plans. Tables such as the military, colleges, and counselors were able to provide good resources and information for seniors.

Del Val put out a great day one performance with zero deductions! Day one was prelims, where Del Val’s main goal was to move on to the semifinals.

Before semi-finals, the team wanted to make sure they were fully prepared. They practiced twice before hand, and still had time to relax at the hotel.

The Arsenal…

After a long day, everyone was satisfied and ready to head back to New Jersey. Students were able to bring back any souvenirs or food they bought, to enjoy. This year's Del Val 2022, New York City visit was yet another successful trip and was one to remember.

For the final stop, students got to go to the Vessel. Although the estimated 2,500 steps could not be climbed, Del Val was still allowed to walk inside on the bottom tier. Despite the enormous sizing of the Vessel, there is still a minimum amount of 1,000 people.

The second to last activity was where students were able to walk across the skyline. This was about a thirty minute walk, where there were places to stop and get pictures of the city lights. With the perfect weather for a New York City night, and a great sight of the lights, students had great stories and photos to go and tell their friends and family. This skyline led to the last stop, the Vessel.

The next stop for Del Val was Chelse Market. At this point, students were ready for a good meal after a long day of walking. Students were able to walk around for about two hours, to explore each variation of food and stores available! There were way too many options, as you could choose from American food, Mexican, Thai, or just a slice of New York’s well known pizza. Towards the end of the Chelsea Market, all of Del Val met up at a Gelato stand, where most enjoyed a refreshing treat before continuing on the journey.

Students and staff hoped back onto the bus ready to go to their next stop, the MOMA. Most of the day was spent at the MOMA, Museum of Modern Art. Students were given a scavenger hunt of certain pieces of art to look out for, and submit a picture with it. Being that the Museum has six levels, these pieces were tricky to discover. The largest, most crowded piece had been Starry Night and the wall of soup, where you could barely squeeze your way through. After the time at the museum was over, everyone was starting to get hungry.

Once Del Val unloaded the bus at Central Park, they headed to the Arsenal or cafe. Hung on display at the Arsenal, were reeves made out of numerous different objects. Del Val was able to walk around the room and see all of the creative objects, such as one reef being made up of all school rulers. One was made out of paper clips, and had been for sale! The exhibit was empty for Del Val to be able to go and check out the festive reeves.
